Sam is a true quarry fox, one of a litter
of six cubs born in the Old Town Quarry Nature Reserve where she chose to stay and make the place her home. The remaining
cubs dispersed to the other parts of Weston and the adult female never returned.
Sam had the place to herself and
a few months later gave birth to her own cubs. She was hand fed on occasions and seemed to enjoy having her picture taken
- probably the only fox in weston to be taken on a photo shoot!
Sam became infected with the potentially fatal
condition of mange and was taken to the Secret World Animal Reserve Rescue Centre for treatment. She was released back again
a few weeks later. The Nature Reserve manager had visited her while in Secret World and decided to become a volunteer.
